School Enrolment and the Open Enrolment Process

At the beginning of this school year we had a total of 476 children in school.

• 26 of the children are in our Nursery Class.
  
Planning is already well under way for September 2005 and our next school year.

Nursery: September 2005:


• Admissions to the school are regulated through the Open Enrolment Procedure of the SELB.



• Admission forms for children who will be starting Nursery next September will be available in early January 2005.



• Admissions to Nursery class are allocated on the basis of published criteria. These criteria are guided by conditions set down by DENI, particularly related to Social Inclusion criteria.



• We would ask all parents who have a child of age to begin Nursery in September2005, and who would wish a place at the school, to return an application form in January so that we can fully establish the need and demand for places in Primate Dixon.



• The closing date for receiving Nursery applications will be Wednesday, 26 January 2005.



• Next year only one application form will be completed. The form includes spaces to list preferences of settings, e.g. Primate Dixon Nursery, Little Flower, etc. The form will be returned to the first preference setting only and will pass through the process as necessary.



• This year schools will use first preference as a way of selecting applicants when criteria are applied.
  
  Primary 1 September 2005:

• Admission forms for children who will be starting Primary 1 next September will also be available from early January 2005.
  


• The closing date for receiving Primary 1 applications will be Wednesday, 26th January 2005.
  


• Notice of Nursery and Primary 1 enrolment will be published in the parish bulletin shortly after Christmas.
