Safety in School

In recent times we have all, unfortunately, had to become much more security conscious about our children. Primate Dixon P.S. belongs to its community.

Parents are welcome partners in our school.

We work together for the good of all our children.

We try to strike a balance in maintaining a welcoming, secure atmosphere in our school.

Our arrangements are aimed at striking this balance.

Children come into school from 8.45 am each day.

Primary 1 children come in to school through the front entrance to our Key Stage 1 block.

Only Primary 1 children should use this entrance.

Primary 1 staff meet and welcome children at their resource area.

Children from Primary 2 - Primary 7 come into school through the rear courtyard playground each day.

This area is supervised by a number of teachers from 8.45 am each morning.

In inclement weather children come into school through the front side doors .
ACCESS THROUGH THE DAY
ADULTS MUST NOT GO DIRECTLY TO CLASSROOMS AT ANY TIME.
Throughout the school day entrance to the school is through the main entrance only.

All of our classes are linked by telephone to the school offices.

If you wish to speak to your child's teacher, contact the school office and a time will be arranged.

We stress again that the safety of children is the prime concern of us all, parents, staff and others.
Traffic Access
There is no access to the school grounds for cars during the school day.

Nursery pupils should not come to the Nursery until 9.00 a.m.

Other traffic should have begun to clear by this time.

Nursery class ends 30 minutes before other infant classes.

Again traffic will be cleared before buses and other traffic arrives at about 1.45 pm.

Our caretaker, Mick, does a very valuable job supervising the school gates each morning and afternoon.

We are grateful to him.

However, there are times when supervision is not possible.

We depend on the support of parents to ensure that access rules are adhered to.
;
It is unfair to the vast majority who do co-operate and unsafe to children to ignore access rules.

We are grateful for your co-operation in helping to ensure the safety of all around the school.
